Mandate

The Bangsamoro Library and Archives System is mandated to collect, preserve, organize, and provide access to information resources, archival records, and cultural heritage materials of the Bangsamoro Government.

It serves as the official repository of government publications and historical records supporting governance, education, and research.

History

The Regional Library was created through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on June 25, 1980 between the National Library and the Lupong Tagapagpaganap ng Pook (LTP), and was formally opened to the public with Mrs. Adela B. Dulay as its first Chief Librarian.

General and Specific Functions

General Functions
  • Develop and maintain the official Bangsamoro library and archives
  • Preserve records, books, and historical documents
  • Provide access to information for research and public service

Specific Functions
  • Acquire, catalog, and digitize library and archival materials
  • Implement records management and archival standards
  • Maintain centralized archival collections for BARMM offices
  • Support academic and policy research
